Inside This Issue...
Shannon Hill, Ph.D.

It is now the first week of October, and I sit here reviewing the three previous months to bring you the reports in this newsletter. I like words and wordplay, so I am finding it tempting to concen-trate on the idea that things are falling this au-tumn. Although we're happy to see falling gas prices (this week at least), our spirits also tend to fall because we know our retirement accounts are falling faster than the gas prices. It's a scary time.

One thing that is not scary, though, is The Bad-dour Center spirit. Although financial pressure is being felt by everyone, it hasn't touched our sense of who we are. We continue to think creatively; we continue to develop new approaches and services to enhance the lives of the residents, and we con-tinue to think about the big picture and to plan for the future.

In the pages of this quarter's newsletter, you will find some exciting things. Kristi Webb tells us about a new program Vocational Services has de-veloped in response to Person Centered Planning feedback. Ashley Durkee discusses findings from our latest completed research project, and you'll get to meet three residents and a staff member. Their stories are sure to give you a smile.

In addition, you will find informative articles on Bipolar Disorder, Grief, and Aging with a Develop-mental Disability. We hope you enjoy this edition of the newsletter and find the information useful. We also hope you'll realize that although lots of things are falling, there's still plenty of good stuff on the rise!
