Residents Give Staff Awards
Shannon Hill, Ph.D
In the era of Person Centered Planning (PCP), The Baddour Center's Self-Advocacy Group (SAG) has initiated a new staff award, The Resident's Choice Award. The award is given by the group to recognize staff members who they believe exemplify the principles of PCP. Group members present the award to one staff member per month at the monthly Awards Day celebration.
Members of the SAG tell me it is fun to give the award, but hard to narrow it down to just one staff member each month. Many names are mentioned in the monthly meetings, and from those nominations the group votes to select just one. Sometimes people are nominated because they've done something particularly outstanding recently, and sometimes they are nominated because of who they are, each and every day.
The very first recipient of the Resident's Choice Award was Manager of Expressive Arts, Lori Parker, in January. Lori was followed by Vocational Supervisor, Paula May in February. March's award was given to Community Life's Activities Coordinator Beth Honnoll. The April Award was given to Transitional's Direct Support Worker Jan Galloway. Case Manager Ashley Price and MIracles Director Ryan Hays were recognized in May and June, respectively. Being recognized by the residents seems to go a long way with our staff members. Ashley Price told the group, "I'm extremely proud of the award and very thankful for the acknowledgement. It truly means a lot to me."
Congratulations to these staff members. Your love and care really show, so keep up the good work!
