Education & Research

The Education and Research Division (E&R) was established to promote quality living for all adults with intellectual disabilities, including those who live and work outside The Center’s service delivery system.  By providing state-of-the-art training experiences to staff members, internship and practicum experiences to students, and research-driven therapeutic and educational interventions to residents, The Baddour Center seeks to improve the services available to this population.

The Division coordinates programmatic training to staff members and hosts a symposium twice annually, in which nationally-recognized speakers present their work to Baddour staff, families, and invited guests from other regional service providers.  Practicum agreements exist with area colleges and universities, providing pre-professional training to students in fields such as psychology, social work, special education, music therapy, and theology.  The Division also conducts original research in three areas:  therapeutic service efficacy, staff training effectiveness, and family service needs.
