Senatobia, Miss. – With blue skies and a healthy breeze, the 9th Annual Miracle Drive Golf took place Friday, May 28th, at The Links at Cottonwoods in Tunica, Miss. Preliminary figures for the event, a benefit for The Baddour Center, are expected to exceed $60,000.

“Our goal each year is to ensure golfers enjoy the tournament, while spreading The Baddour Center’s mission and raising money to fund the many programs and services we offer,” said Parke Pepper, executive director for The Center. “We believe every golfer walked away with the knowledge that they helped 171 men and women with intellectual disabilities and enjoyed a great golf outing. No matter what your scorecard says, it can’t get much better than that.”

The four-person scramble began with lunch by Harrah’s Entertainment and ended with hors d’oeuvres provided by First Choice Catering. Following the shotgun start at 1:00 p.m., 32 teams hit the fairways with a chance to win a new Mustang from Country Ford of Southaven, as well as hole-in-one opportunities for such things as a Myrtle Beach golf vacation. Everyone wrapped up the day with awards, which included putting contest, longest drive, and closest-to-the-pin winners.

The Miracle Drive Golf Tournament was held at the state-of-the-art The Links at Cottonwoods Golf Course, at Harrah’s, Tunica Resorts, MS. Cottonwoods’ rolling fairways feature a links-style, par 72 course. Three winning teams were chosen in three flights.

“It takes a pool of resources to help make a tournament successful,” Pepper said. “We are grateful for each golfer, as well as for the Cottonwoods staff who helped the event run smoothly. Most of all, we are grateful to our generous sponsors. We can’t do what we do without their support.”

In addition to other numerous companies, tournament sponsors included the following:

  • Presenting Sponsor: FedEx
  • Eagle Sponsor: Harrah’s Entertainment, The Links at Cottonwoods
  • Birdie Sponsors: American Snuff Company, Lipscomb & Pitts Insurance, and Wayne & Donna Godwin
